Safeguarding communities: protecting from overflowing lakes and canals
Glysis Under Water Again – NOAQ Boxwall Saves the Day.
Once more, the Glysisvallen ice-hockey arena in Hudiksvall faced the threat of flooding, and once again, NOAQ's Boxwall came to the rescue. In August, the arena was spared from flooding thanks to the innovative flood barrier. In one of the weekend in November, an unusual combination of early snowfall followed by heavy rain prompted the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) to issue a red alert flood warning for small watercourses along the south coastlands of Norrland. In Hudiksvall, the Hornån River overflowed, threatening the arena. With the water closing in, the property owner quickly set up the NOAQ Boxwall to divert the floodwaters, just as they had done in August.
