Turning a Street into a Canal Recent severe flooding impacted not only Germany and Belgium, but also the Austrian city of Kufstein. There, a street was transformed into a canal by installing NOAQ boxwall barriers on both sides, allowing floodwaters to be safely guided past buildings and into the river.
Swift Action Saves the Day. As torrential rains threatened to submerge the Pragati Maidan underpass, a race against time began. Before the rain water could rise rapidly, the swift deployment of NOAQ barriers became the only defense. In a matter of moments, these barriers stood firm, diverting the floodwaters and preventing a devastating deluge from swallowing the underpass whole.
Testing of NOAQ barriers in Taiwan has demonstrated their effectiveness in protecting tunnels from flooding. During these trials, the innovative barriers successfully reduced flood risks, ensuring the safety and continued operation of vital infrastructure. This accomplishment represents a major step forward in flood prevention technology.
Glysis Under Water Again – NOAQ Boxwall Saves the Day. Once more, the Glysisvallen ice-hockey arena in Hudiksvall faced the threat of flooding, and once again, NOAQ's Boxwall came to the rescue. In August, the arena was spared from flooding thanks to the innovative flood barrier. In one of the weekend in November, an unusual combination of early snowfall followed by heavy rain prompted the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) to issue a red alert flood warning for small watercourses along the south coastlands of Norrland. In Hudiksvall, the Hornån River overflowed, threatening the arena. With the water closing in, the property owner quickly set up the NOAQ Boxwall to divert the floodwaters, just as they had done in August.
Acting as a first line of defense, NOAQ barriers are proving crucial in diverting floodwaters away from homes, residences, garages, and building entrances. These barriers are designed to prevent water intrusion, effectively safeguarding properties and minimizing damage during flood events. They help protect infrastructure, reduce restoration costs, and enhance overall community resilience in flood-prone areas.
