Floods pose a considerable risk to factories due to their potential to damage critical infrastructure, machinery, raw materials, and finished products. The consequences of flooding include production downtime, loss of inventory, equipment damage, environmental contamination, and potential risks to employee safety. Therefore, investing in flood protection measures is essential to mitigate these risks and safeguard the factory's operations.Based on experience of heavy losses from floods in October’21, Titan Watch Division decided to install flood protection barriers at the main gate and side entrances to block water coming from the road into their factory.

Titan conducted a comprehensive risk assessment to identify the potential risks and vulnerabilities specific to their production facility. The assessment included factors such as historical flood data, future risks attributed to climate change, third party consultation on risk analysis etc. It was decided to block all entry points into the factory such as Main Gate, Employee gate, electric transformer area, back entrance etc.

We covered the main entrance to the factory spanning 5m length and 1.8 m height.

To ensure stability and prevent displacement during flood events, the flood barriers with longer lengths were securely anchored to the ground using anchoring systems like back support or intermediate columns. This step involved driving anchors into the ground at specified intervals and connecting them to the barriers. Fixing of ground pots for these columns and laying of the Stainless steel channel into the floor was carried out by the civil team of Titan along with the supervision on Frontier.

Based on the flood level outside the H-Frame planks can be setup at height intervals of 20 cm so that employees can step across it when flood levels are low.

The customer undertook civil work to increase the height of the back wall and smoothening of the flooring so that the barriers cold be installed. These light weight planks are super easy to insert in their slots and are extremely effective in protecting from floods.

Site work involved raising the floor level, casting of the stainless steel channel into the floor and straightening of the walls. Our experienced team worked closely with the civil contractor on site to enable precise work.

Windows of the guard rooms were also covered to reach a flood protection height of 1.8 M

Titan also has pumps to throw out water from rainfall from within their factory. Job of the flood barriers is to protect the factory from flood water entering from the road into the factory.

After installation, training to the factory personnel regarding flood barrier deployment was carried out.
