ITC Green Centre, Gurugram Flood Mitigation Case File
Frontier Flood Barriers India LLP installed flood protection systems at ITC Green Centre, Gurugram, to protect critical building entrances from rainwater and surface-water ingress. ITC Greens is the headquarters of the ITC Hotels division.
The project included:
• NOAQ® BOXWALL™ free-standing flood barriers at the main gate entrance.
• Modular Aluminium H-Frame Flood Barriers at two basement entrances.
The systems were selected according to the operating requirements and site conditions of each location.
1. Aluminium H-Frame Flood Barriers (Basement Entrances)
Modular Aluminium H-Frame Flood Barriers were installed at the two basement entrances. The side frames were securely anchored and sealed against the civil structure. The customer added new RCC pillars on either side of the ramp entrances to secure the fixing of permanent side channels. Removable aluminium planks can be installed during a flood alert and removed after the risk has passed, allowing normal vehicle movement through the basement entrances. The system is further supported by an intermediate column midway which is also stored away when not in use. At the base, a heavy-duty "C" channel was cast into the ground enabling a smooth and accurate sealing of the flood barrier. The barriers were manufactured according to the actual dimensions of each opening (approx. 5.4 meters each and flood height of 1 meter).
2. NOAQ® BOXWALL™ Flood Barriers (Main Gate Entrance)
NOAQ® BOXWALL™ free-standing flood barriers were provided for the main gate entrance. The modular units can be quickly connected to form a continuous flood protection line. The system does not require permanent channels or foundations across the entrance, only a flat floor, and can be removed completely and stored away when not in use. The NOAQ® BOXWALL™ uses the weight and pressure of approaching floodwater to hold the barrier against the ground. Adding a protective layer of NOAQ® BOXWALL™ barriers in front of the main gate helps in stopping and diverting the floodwater from the main road trying to enter the complex.
