CG Power and Industrial Solutions Limited, also known as Crompton Greaves Limited, is an Indian multinational company engaged in design, manufacturing, and marketing of products related to power generation, drives, automation, transmissionand distribution & Rail Transportation.
The factory is located in the Industrial belt of Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh and is prone if yearly flooding due to flood water coming into the factory from the highway. The customer approached us for solutions and it was decided to install flood barriers at the main entry gate and side emergency gate. Barriers were tailored to fit specific entry points to ensure good water tight seals to protect outside water flowing into the factory.
Civil work like straightening of the pillars, a bit of rework on masonry, cutting of groves on concrete ramp etc were carried out by the civil contract team of CG Power under the supervision of our experts.

Challenges of civil work remain at every site and these were overcome by speedy work and all round effort of the teams on site

Main entrance of the factory with a length of over 12.5 M was selected for the installation of the Flood Barriers. The height of flood protection was decided at 1.6M

Replastering of the concrete columns to give smooth and parallel surface finish to fix the permanent brackets of the Flood Barriers

Groove is cut into the concrete floor to fix the ‘C’ channel for Heavy traffic
Ensuring the intermediate pillars are aligned perfectly prior to fixing of the barriers
To ensure stability and prevent displacement during flood events, the flood barriers with longer lengths were securely anchored to the ground using anchoring systems like back support or intermediate columns. This step involved driving anchors into the ground at specified intervals and connecting them to the barriers. Fixing of ground pots for these columns and laying of the Stainless steel channel into the floor was carried out by the civil team of CG Power along with the supervision of experts from Frontier.
CG Power also has pumps to throw out water from rainfall from within their factory. Job of the flood barriers is to protect the factory from flood water entering from the road into the factory
